Notes from Last Day of Class:

  1. What do I care about the most (re: the project)?
  2. What are some criticisms of this thing I care about? Common beliefs?
  3. What is the coolest, most radical statement I can say about this thing?

Step 1: Write an entirely new introduction!

Step 2: Write and rewrite and rewrite your thesis statement (what do you want to say to the world?).

Step 3: Generate a list of the most vivid details connected to your BIG IDEA.

Step 4: Go back to your original essay (1.3 or 2.3) and mine it for good stuff. Avoid copying and pasting any more than parts of sentences.

Step 5: You have something of an outline now, so begin filling it out.

Step 6: Write new topic sentences, and keep filling out your paragraphs.

Step 7: Compare your original essay with this revision: does it LOOK substantially different?
